Commissioner Hameed graduated from Macquarie University, Australia with a Master’s Degree in Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism in 2008. Throughout his illustrious career, he has been credited with ushering in a new era of Policing in the Maldives. Under his guidance, crucial changes were brought about to re-design the Police Act, which revolutionised how policing is carried out in the Maldives.Moreover, Commissioner Hameed played a major role in the amendments made to the Anti-Terrorism act of Maldives; which introduced new powers and responsibilities related to Counter Terrorism. Additionally, he has been leading the efforts by the Maldives Police Service to the government of Maldives in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed is a member of the Maldivian National Security Council, and directly reports to the President of the Maldives His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the Minister of Home affairs, His Honourable Sheikh Imran Abdulla. Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed also serves as the Director-General of the Directorate of Intelligence.
