Kevin Baron is the executive editor of Defense One, the national security news, ideas, and events brand of Atlantic Media. A member of the Pentagon press corps since 2008, Baron has lived in Washington, DC, for more than 20 years, covering the military, national security, foreign policy, politics, and Congress for news outlets including Foreign Policy, National Journal, Stars and Stripes, and the Center for Public Integrity. He managed long-form investigative projects at the Boston Globe’s DC bureau from 2003-2009.
Baron also is a frequent on-air contributor and on-stage interviewer, and a former security/military analyst at NBC News & MSNBC. Prior, Baron was a policy specialist and lobbyist on international development, education, and immigration issues for NGO coalitions, and at the United Nations Association-USA. Baron is former vice president of the Pentagon Press Association. He earned his M.A. in media and public affairs from George Washington University, his B.A. in international studies from the University of Richmond, and studied in Paris. Raised in Florida, Baron lives in Northern Virginia.
