Robin Wright is a columnist for The New Yorker and a joint fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. She has reported from more than 140 countries on seven continents for The Washington Post, CBS News, TIME, The Los Angeles Times, and many other publications. Wright has been a fellow at the Brookings Institution, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Yale, Duke, Stanford, and the University of California. She is the recipient of several awards including the United Nations Correspondents Association Gold Medal for coverage of international affairs, Journalist of the Year by the American Academy of Diplomacy, the Overseas Press Club Award for “best reporting in any medium requiring exceptional courage and initiative” for coverage of African wars, the National Magazine Award for her Iran reportage in The New Yorker, and the National Press Club award for diplomatic reporting. Wright is a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation awardee. She is the author of eight books, including “Rock the Casbah: Rage and Rebellion across the Islamic World,” which was selected as the best book on international affairs by the Overseas Press Club.
